This abstract looks at how shining red and near infrared light into the body shows strong possibility for assisting the brain in recovery from stroke and traumatic brain injury. The article looks at light therapy, photobiomodulation (PBM)’s strong efficacy, “In healthy human volunteers (including students and healthy elderly women), PBM has been shown to increase regional cerebral blood flow, tissue oxygenation, and improve memory, mood, and cognitive function. Clinical studies have been conducted in patients suffering from the chronic effects of TBI. There have been reports showing improvement in executive function, working memory, and sleep.” This all points to the power of light as an environment where the body does its best healing. Shine with light.
